We are working with a rapidly growing Highway Construction Contractor who are actively seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join their professional Project Management Team, working out of their office in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The ideal candidate should have a solid background history of project estimation, preferably in Heavy Highway construction.

Your Role:

  • Execute take-offs of construction documents.
  • Review construction documents and scopes of work to prepare estimates and bids using state and federal specifications.
  • Obtain quotes from subcontractors and vendors for materials and labor as needed.
  • Prepare estimates by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs incurred during the life cycle of a project.
  • Develop and maintain company resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
  • Attend departmental meetings as required.
  • Help review bidding decisions for upcoming projects.
  • Communicate plans and contract terms to relevant parties.
  • Work with project management team to manage financial aspects of projects.

Required Skills:

  • Experience using HCSS, AutoCAD, P6 (Primavera), and Estimating and Scheduling Software.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team.
  • Working knowledge of multiphases of civil construction.
  • Good relationships with suppliers and subcontractors in the area.
  • Field experience.
  • Strong contract and plan reading skills.

Required Experience:

  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 10 years’ experience performing project estimation work, preferably in heavy highway construction and related projects.

Design drainage and stormwater systems, perform complex hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, manage erosion and sediment control designs
