We are working with a leading manufacturer of HVAC/R systems in Minneapolis, Minnesota, who are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the planning, design, and development of tools, machines, and accessory products, both for new product introduction and improving on current designs.
Your Role:
- Lead other engineers in the design of individual tools and machines, including acting as the lead on some projects
- Evaluate the progress and results of projects you lead
- Own the project level goals involving multiple engineers and help break down ambiguous tasks into smaller units, establishing clear milestones for progress measurement
- Mentor Engineer I, II, and IIIs with their projects, coaching them through complex issues and problems
- Provide technical leadership bringing design concepts to production solutions as the subject matter expert in their area
- Support department goals by designing test plans and performing testing
- Provide advanced production line support
- Develop product specifications for the company’s product ideas
- Work with vendors to ensure accurate component specifications and dimensional requirements are met upon receipt
- Support new production development, reporting on work completed at department, new product, and stage gate meetings
- Transform initial rough product designs into working, production-ready documents
- Update released production documentation, utilizing documented change processes
- Develop Bills of Materials that will be entered into business system, using ECM Process
- Act as supervisor for up to two direct reports, including conducting interviews, making selection, managing onboarding, time approval, time off calendar management, performance reviews, and addressing performance concerns
Required Skills:
- Understanding of the new product development process
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to an audience in a presentation setting
- Knowledge of lean principles
- 3D CAD Knowledge – preferable SolidWorks
- Experience with low voltage printed circuit board assembly (PCBA)
- Experience with circuit design
- Experience with electronic design automation software
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable
- 8 years of progressively demanding experience in new product design
- Experience with low voltage printed circuit board assembly (PCBA)
- Experience with circuit design
- Experience with electronic design automation software
Preferred Experience:
- Infor ERP experience
- EPA 608 Certification
- DBWorks or Enterprise PDM experience
- Experience with electronic design automation software library setup
- Design experience using Bluetooth communication
- HVAC Sensor experience e.g. pressure, temperature, etc.
