We are working with a growing Electrical Power Engineering firm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who are actively seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience the in design, implementation, and optimization of electrical systems and power distribution networks supporting critical infrastructure such as pipelines, compressor stations, and storage facilities.

This is a two year contract opportunity, with the possibility of direct hire.

Your Role:

You will work with the company’s Power Distribution Team to manage complex projects that directly impact operations. You will apply your expertise to design solutions, troubleshoot issues, and drive innovation, leading small teams, collaborating across disciplines, and delivering clear presentations to stakeholders.

  • Work on the design, implementation, and optimization of electrical systems and power distribution networks supporting critical infrastructure such as pipelines, compressor stations, and storage facilities
  • Promote the integration of advanced technologies including automation, real-time monitoring, and energy storage to enhance system performance and reduce operational costs
  • Implement robust safety measures such as arc flash mitigation and fault detection systems to protect personnel and ensure infrastructure reliability
  • Provide technical expertise in power distribution, electrical schematics, and system layouts for both new construction and upgrades to existing facilities
  • Participate in complex engineering projects from concept to completion ensuring alignment with business goals timelines and budget constraints
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental and regulatory standards across electrical systems and project execution
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver engineering solutions that meet internal and external customer needs

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge in power system design, analysis, and simulation (e.g., ETAP, MATLAB, PSCAD, Simulink or similar tools)
  • Knowledge of high-voltage equipment, transformers, generators, and switchgear
  • Understanding of grid integration and renewable energy systems
  • Experience in supporting procurement processes for electrical equipment and materials, with established industry contacts for sourcing reliable vendors and suppliers

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with participation of the commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical equipment to ensure proper functionality and compliance with design specifications

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or relevant field
  • 10 years experience in electrical power systems design and implementation
  • Knowledge of reviewing arc flash studies and implementing improvements
  • Working knowledge of electrical design codes (NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE, etc.

Preferred Experience:

  • Masters degree in Electrical Enginering
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience working in Preliminary-Front End Engineering and Design (Pre-FEED), Front End Engineering Design (FEED), or Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) of small to medium facility projects
  • Experience supporting the designing and implantation of Instrumentation systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems
