We are working with a Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) headquartered in Winchester, Virginia, which is actively seeking a Vice President of Telecommunications Engineering to oversee the company’s engineering efforts for their Managed Services Provider (MSP), Federal Consulting, and NG911 Interoperability Test Lab lines of business. This is a senior player-coach leadership role, requiring both engineering leadership and hands-on technical involvement.

Your Role:

You will lead the matrixed engineering team of 7 engineers, ensuring that every engagement meets the high standards of reliability and security.

  • Turn high-level company goals into technical reality by designing engineering roadmaps and managing them through to successful deployment.
  • Lead daily engineering operations with a focus on resource optimization, milestone achievement, and budgetary discipline.
  • Partner with company executives to turn business requirements into engineering roadmaps.
  • Oversee critical cybersecurity task, ensuring our mission-critical communication platforms are hardened against emerging threats.
  • Build a culture of excellence through active coaching, performance management, and strategic talent acquisition.

Required Skills:

  • Deep understanding of IP networking, VoIP, cybersecurity, and the specialized requirements of Next Generation 911 and Emergency Communications.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in telecommunications and network engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience managing engineering teams and navigating complex project lifecycles.
  • Demonstrated rich experience in IP networking, Cybersecurity, Voice over IP (VoIP) technology and Public Safety Communications.
  • Strong background in secure voice telephony.
  • Telecommunications industry experience is essential.
  • Proven experience leading and motivating engineering teams while remaining technically hands-on.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with DoD/government customers is valuable.
  • You must be eligible to obtain a security clearance; existing or prior clearance is a plus but not required at the time of hire.
