We are working with a growing Engineering Consulting firm in the NW Chicago area, that is seeking to add a junior Civil Engineer to perform site analysis and land development for projects. This is a great opportunity for an engineer with a few years of experience, who is ready to take on more project responsibility.
The company is willing to train and develop selected candidates and will support you in obtaining your Professional Engineer License.
Your Role:
- Lead and support civil design projects from concept through construction
- Prepare and review grading, drainage, utility, and site development plans
- Perform engineering calculations and ensure compliance with local and state regulations
- Coordinate closely with in-house land surveyors and site planners
- Communicate with municipalities, clients, and internal teams
Required Skills:
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD including AutoCAD 3D
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 1+ years of civil engineering experience with site development, land development, municipal, or transportation projects, including internships
Preferred Experience:
- Engineer-in-Training certification
- Site grading and drainage design (stormwater management, detention/runoff control, cut/fill balancing)
- Utility system design for site development (water and sanitary sewer layout and coordination)
- Engineering calculations and technical design analysis (hydrology/hydraulics, drainage calculations, structural/supporting site calculations)
- Municipal permitting and plan-submittal knowledge (understanding local/state submission requirements and responding to agency review comments)
- Municipal/stakeholder liaison and permit coordination (communicating and negotiating with municipalities, clients, and review agencies)
