We are working with a fast growing consultant engineering practice in the Baltimore area that is seeking a Water / Wastewater Project Engineer. In this role you will become part of an established team of engineers working on exciting sewershed study and rehabilitation, new sewer design, water distribution, water/wastewater treatment, and pump station projects in the Mid-Atlantic US.
Your Role:
- Plan and lead engineering designs in the water / wastewater field, through working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards, and processes
- Conduct multiple design projects simultaneously
- Prepare and update project schedules
- Develop, analyze and document critical design elements
- Coordinate the efforts of a design team to determine requirements and incorporate feedback.
- Provide quality engineering evaluation and design services efficiently with limited supervision to support the project team’s objective and provide customer satisfaction on all projects, delivering projects of high quality on schedule and within budget.
- Analyze project requirements and information from alternative studies to develop an accurate report for submittal.
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects/tasks
- Assessing and identifying collection/distribution system performance deficiencies, predicting future issues, and developing solutions for planning and design projects
- Perform design computations
- Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
- Develop or review the construction cost estimate.
- Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates
- Attend meetings with clients and assist taking meeting minutes
- Coordinate with other disciplines and understand how they fit into the project and design.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in related design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, and MS Project
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Demonstrated familiarity with hydraulic designs, sewer rehabilitation, water and sewer design, water and water/wastewater pump station and treatment process design, engineering economics, preparation of specifications and engineering report writing
- Firm grasp of general heavy construction principles; environmental facilities operations-related experience is considered a plus
Required Experience:
- BS in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
- 5-10 years experience in water / wastewater design and planning
Preferred Experience:
- Professional Engineering License
- Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
